Hi there, and Schuss !
I recently found a group of players (should I write "slayers" ?) and we are starting a new campaing, with the first scenarios from the rulebook.
We play using the english version since Caera-related material hasn't been translated in french - well at leaste it hasn't been included in the french translation.
Of course we play in french, and to sum-up what the characters should know about the world around, I wrote a little note.
I'm wondering about something.
In the english version, Dämmerwald became the Dawn Woods, so I translated into "Bois de l'Aube".
But isn't this "Dämmerung" the "Abenddämmerung" ? The town next to the wood is Westheim, and it's consistent with the fact it's in the west of the Freiland.
Is the sun rising in the west in Caera ?
If not shouldn't this wood be the Dusk Wood instead ? And the Dusk Ford, und so weiter ?
In french this should be "Bois du Crépuscule", which sounds much more mysterious and frightening...

Dämmerung
Is a lightsituation betwen
Dark and light
The German meaning of "Wald" is in english "Forest"
I think the change into Wood is only cause style
Sorry my Bad english😁

Basically Yes. I think it was done to have a phonetically similar Sound.
Dämmer could be both but mostly is the evening.
Dusk woods would be closer, but both should be ok.

"Die Diebe vom Dämmerwald " has been translated in french by : "Les Voleurs de la Foret de la Pénombre"

The german word "Dämmerung" can be used both for "Abenddämmerung" (dusk) or "Morgendämmerung" (dawn). A good translation for "Dämmerung" is "twilight".
The town next to the wood is Westheim, and it's consistent with the fact it's in the west of the Freiland.

I've never realized this geographic detail :o

Thanks everyone !
Vik and Avakar got a point, let's go for "Forêt de la Pénombre".

If you are french, it'll be nice of you if we can have a feedback of the translations.

Yes, I'm french.
And I'm already acquainted with Mad Malik. As a former member of the French Translation Team, I did some translations (le Passager du Banterrra, le Trésor du Banterra...). So I know very well how hard (and well) you work to translate dungeons and other game-related material.
I'm not using new material right now, so I didn't have yet the opportunity to give any feedback, but I'll do it for sure.
For instance, I've read the article about named weapons, I'll try something ingame soon.
